Happy New Year 2014!

Happy New Year everybody!
2013 wasn’t bad. Technically, it’s been my first year married! I’m loving married life and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am very blessed. My wife and I were able to go on a Caribbean cruise for our anniversary, which was SUCH an awesome experience! Man, I wish I could go back there right about now.

We’ve been attending a bible study, praying and studying God’s word with friends, and seeking out His will for our lives. I’d say it’s been a pretty solid foundation for our lives together. we have also been encouraging each other to keep in shape at the gym and eat healthy… She knows way more than I do about healthy foods though.

As far as music goes, I’d say I’m definitely hoping for more this year. But hey.. I still played some great shows with Dust and Ashes. December 28th was our last show of the year, and I had a blast. That was the most fun I’ve had up on stage in a long time. Everything just worked out. I felt confident, I felt energetic, and I had no problems singing. Got to see some good old friends too! It was just a fantastic night, and a great way to end the year. I’ve also been teaching voice/piano almost all year long, and I’ve been practicing guitar quite a bit.

Guitar has always been my lacking instrument… I’ve been working on improving my shredding.
I believe I’ve noticed quite a difference, if I do say so myself. Still haven’t hit my goals yet! But I’m gettin’ there. As for teaching, I unfortunately had to stop towards the end of the year since both my car and my wife’s car broke down right around the same time. We have a new car now but it’s tough to get to the lesson studio sharing a car with my wife now working full time and with myself working overnights. No worries. I’ll pick it up again, perhaps.

How about some 2014 goals? Well. As I said earlier I would like to be making more music… I just got enough mics to efficiently record drums (FINALLY) and my family got a pretty dang nice camera, so you can expect more recorded music (and video) from me this year for sure. I would like to release a CD or EP for my solo project, and possibly play a show. Obviously you’ll see and hear more Dust and Ashes as well.

I do have many other plans that I’m pretty excited about, but that’s for me to reveal in the future (if and when). However, whatever happens this year, I will be in prayer and hope that God will guide me.

Now these are all goals that I’ve already been working on and mapping out anyway… but sure, New Years is a great time to sit back and think them out. Reflect on your goals, measure your progress, and figure out how you’re going to achieve them. Why not?

That’s about it. I’ll leave you with a bible verse that I am finding extremely relevant to me right now. Hope you all have a great 2014!

“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” -Proverbs 16:3 ESV
